Hi there, and welcome—I’m really glad you’re here.
I’m Lisa Paul, a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Credentialed Mental Health Nurse. I work with people who are going through difficult or overwhelming times—whether that’s anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma (including early life and birth trauma), or simply feeling lost and unsure of where to turn next.
One of the areas I’m especially passionate about is Perinatal Mental Health. I support mums during pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenting—times that can bring up so many emotions. If you’re finding it hard to adjust, feeling anxious or low, or just not yourself, please know you’re not alone. These feelings are more common than you might think, and you don’t have to go through it without support.
My approach to therapy is gentle, flexible, and always tailored to you.
There’s no set formula—just a safe space where we can explore what you need, at your pace. Together, we’ll find what supports your healing and helps you feel more like yourself again.
How I Came Into This Work
My journey into this field began in nursing. After completing my qualification, I worked in general medical nursing before moving into Neonatal Intensive Care. A year later, I went on to train as a Midwife, working across antenatal, birth, postnatal, and Special Care Nursery settings. I spent 25 years in midwifery, eventually becoming a senior clinician in this incredible field.
But as the years went on, I noticed something missing: we were caring for women physically, but we often weren’t supporting their mental and emotional wellbeing in the way they needed—and deserved.
That realisation sent me back to university, where I completed my Counselling degree and transitioned into the mental health space where I worked as a Senior Mental Health Clinician at the Raphael Service - St John of God for 4 years, before going into private practice.
I have spent the past 9 years focused on Perinatal Mental Health, as well as trauma-related work more broadly. I’ve completed extensive training in these areas to provide a deeper level of support to the women I work with.
At the heart of it all, I believe in individualised care. Your therapy is shaped in collaboration with you—whether you’re looking for short-term support or longer-term exploration. I integrate a range of approaches, so we can create something that truly fits you and your life.
Most importantly, I aim to create a space that feels calm, welcoming, and non-judgemental—a place where you feel safe to be yourself, to talk about what’s going on, and to reconnect with who you are.
