Hi there, and welcome—I’m really glad you’re here.
I’m Lisa Paul - Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Credentialed Mental Health Nurse and Midwife. I work with people who are going through difficult or overwhelming times—whether that’s anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma (including early life and birth trauma), or simply feeling lost and unsure of where to turn next.
One of the areas I’m especially passionate about is Perinatal Mental Health. I support mums during pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenting—times that can bring up so many emotions. If you’re finding it hard to adjust, feeling anxious or low, or just not yourself, please know you’re not alone. These feelings are more common than you might think, and you don’t have to go through it without support.
My approach to therapy is gentle, flexible, and always tailored to you. There’s no set formula—just a safe space where we can explore what you need, at your pace. Together, we’ll find what supports your healing and helps you feel more like yourself again.
What makes my approach different?
I combine my clinical experience in nursing and midwifery with psychotherapy and complementary healing modalities like Acutonics®, Homeopathy, and mineral analysis. You can choose to focus on traditional talk therapy, explore frequency-based therapies, or combine both approaches — giving you a flexible, personalized path to support your emotional wellbeing and your body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance.
I work through a trauma-informed and recovery-focused lens, specializing in birth trauma and complex emotional experiences. This means you’ll find a compassionate, non-judgmental space where your story is honoured and your healing journey is fully supported.
Above all, I believe therapy is a collaborative process. I work with you, not for you—tailoring our sessions to your unique needs and helping you develop tools for resilience, self-compassion, and lasting wellbeing.

My journey into this work began in nursing. After completing my qualification, I worked in general medical nursing before moving into Neonatal Intensive Care.
A year later, I trained as a Midwife, working across antenatal, birth, postnatal, and Special Care Nursery settings. I spent 25 years in midwifery, eventually becoming a senior clinician in this incredible field.
But as the years went on, I noticed something missing. While we were doing everything we could to care for women physically, their emotional and mental wellbeing often went unseen—yet it was so clearly there, under the surface.
That insight became deeply personal when I became a mother myself. During pregnancy and the postnatal period, I struggled with anxiety and depression—something I hadn’t fully expected, even with all my clinical experience. I suddenly found myself in the very space I had witnessed so many others in: overwhelmed, unsure, and feeling alone. And like many women, I found that the emotional support I needed simply wasn’t there in the ways that mattered most.
That lived experience changed everything for me.
It led me back to university to complete my Counselling degree, and from there I moved into the mental health space, working as a Senior Mental Health Clinician at the Raphael Service (St John of God) for four years before starting my own private practice.
For the past nine years, I’ve focused on Perinatal Mental Health, as well as broader trauma-related work. I’ve undertaken extensive training in these areas because I want to offer support that not only understands the clinical aspects—but deeply recognises the emotional ones, too.
At the heart of my work is a belief in individualised care. Whether you're looking for short-term support or deeper exploration, therapy is something we shape together. I draw on a range of approaches to create something that feels right for you and your life.
And most importantly: I get it.
I've been there. I know how heavy it can feel, how isolating and confusing this time can be. And I want you to know—this is a space where you’ll be met with compassion, not judgment. A space where you can breathe, be heard, and begin to reconnect with yourself.
